Safety First - Neighborhood Watch
In view of the recent break in attempt on Hemlock, it has occurred to the board that Neighborhood Watch should be a priority for Riverwalk. About two years ago the Douglas County Sheriff's Department came out to speak to our neighborhood and told us what was necessary to become a Neighborhood Watch Community. Apparently it never got off the ground. If there is any interest in revitalizing that idea, please get in touch with me, and we will form a committee to take charge of it. The criteria would be that at least one person on each street would be on the committee and assume certain responsibilities; being alert, noticing any unusual activity on their street and reporting it to the police among other things. This is where “nosey neighbor” becomes a good thing.
Please call Marti Cobb (770) 949-5274 or email her at marticobb1@bellsouth.net if you are interested.

Attempted Break-In Reported !
There has been an attempted break-in on Hemlock Court here in Riverwalk.
At one residence, 3 of their front bay window locks had been pried up by apparent burglars and one of the windows was almost pried open. There was also a large hole dug by the front door next to the sidewalk. What makes this more frightening is the resident believes they were home (during the day) when this incident was attempted. There Sheriff's office is investigating.
We urge you to be very aware of unusual activity and vehicles both during the day and at night.
Please make sure your doors are locked, and if you have an alarm system, please use it. It may be your best defense against damage and loss. If your windows have extra locks that prevent the window from being raised more than a few inches, use those also.
Vandalism Issues
Over the last few month, we have seen a dramatic increase in acts of vandalism on Riverwalk Homeowners
Association property. Two “speed limit” signs have been pulled out of the ground and thrown into the
woods and shrubs, a light fixture from the top of a brick column at the pool has been broken off and for the
third time this season, the pool gate locking system has been tampered with and broken. Each service call
cost approximately $150.00. We have also on several occasions, found pool furniture in the pool.
We are filing a report with the Douglas County Sheriff’s office, but since this is a “Community Watch”
subdivision, we are asking any resident that has any information regarding these acts of vandalism to report
them to a Board member. Repair, replacement or re-installation will cost all of us!
Reminder:
Trash cans are supposed to be stored out-of-site from the road.
Low maintenance vinyl screens are available for $20 and up at Lowe's and or Home Depot.

Riverwalk on Facebook
A resident from Riverwalk Subdivision has set up a Facebook page for communication among neighborhood residents. While this is a great way for neighbors to "talk", please be aware that the email address associated with that Facebook page will not reach neighborhood board members, and the page itself is not a way to specifically ask questions or share comments meant for the board.
To contact board members for any reason, please use the addresses and phone numbers you find on this website, or send messages through riverwalkhoa@gmail.com and we will make sure they get to the appropriate officers.
