Notice to all Residents:
District 4 Town Hall Meeting
Our Douglas County Commission representative, Ann Jones Guider, will hold a Town Hall Meeting for residents in this district on January 28, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the conference room at the new Dog River Library. It will be our chance to learn what is going on in this district that may affect us, as well as present an opportunity to ask for a turn lane into Riverwalk going south on Highway 5. We would like to make a strong showing for this request, so please take an hour out of your busy Saturday and meet us there Any questions can be directed to her office at 770-920-7266

Attempted Break-In Reported !
There has been an attempted break-in on Hemlock Court here in Riverwalk.
At one residence, 3 of their front bay window locks had been pried up by apparent burglars and one of the windows was almost pried open. There was also a large hole dug by the front door next to the sidewalk. What makes this more frightening is the resident believes they were home (during the day) when this incident was attempted. There Sheriff's office is investigating.
We urge you to be very aware of unusual activity and vehicles both during the day and at night.
Please make sure your doors are locked, and if you have an alarm system, please use it. It may be your best defense against damage and loss. If your windows have extra locks that prevent the window from being raised more than a few inches, use those also.
Vandalism Issues
Over the last few month, we have seen a dramatic increase in acts of vandalism on Riverwalk Homeowners
Association property. Two “speed limit” signs have been pulled out of the ground and thrown into the
woods and shrubs, a light fixture from the top of a brick column at the pool has been broken off and for the
third time this season, the pool gate locking system has been tampered with and broken. Each service call
cost approximately $150.00. We have also on several occasions, found pool furniture in the pool.
We are filing a report with the Douglas County Sheriff’s office, but since this is a “Community Watch”
subdivision, we are asking any resident that has any information regarding these acts of vandalism to report
them to a Board member. Repair, replacement or re-installation will cost all of us!
Riverwalk Activities Instruction Policy Update
After receiving a printout of our actual HOA insurance policy and further discussion with the insurance underwriter, the Riverwalk Homeowners Association, Inc. Board of Directors issues the following revised policy:
Any member in good standing may give swim, tennis, aerobics or other instruction with the following conditions:
1. A Certificate of Liability Insurance listing:
- Name of person insured.
- Effective dates of the policy.
- Limits of the policy.
- Minimum coverage of $1,000,000
- Certificate must list the Riverwalk Homeowners Association, Inc. as an Additional Insured.
must be presented to the Board directly from the issuing insurance office, by one of the following means: USPS to Riverwalk Homeowners Association, Inc, P.O. Box 6122, Douglasville, GA 30154 or e-mailed to riverwalkhoa@bellsouth.net
No instruction may begin until the above has been received by the Board and acknowledgment sent to the applicant.
2. Lessons and group activities may be conducted between 10:00am and 2:30pm Monday through Thursday only as to not inconvenience other members during normally busier times.
Non-members may NOT receive instruction or participate in any of these activities on HOA property. Nonmembers may be guests of a member for recreational purposes only, not to receive instruction.
Our insurance policy EXCLUDES medical payments for anyone injured while participation in “athletic activities.”
The Board apologizes for the confusion and delays. We received a copy of the insurance booklet only this week and a discussion with the Supervising Underwriter cleared up the conflicting information that was received by the Board previously. We will be happy to e-mail a copy of the Insurance Policy to any member who requests one.
Important Pool Issues You Need to Know:
Toy Balls Getting Sucked into Pool Filtration System:
In order to safeguard our pool equipment, any balls brought to the pool area must be AT LEAST the size of a soccer ball . Smaller balls are getting sucked into the filtration system and ending up in the pump room. This could cause major damage to pool equipment which would require shutting down the pool for repairs, and cost us all money in repair costs. Please explain this to the children, to anyone visiting our pool who may not see this notice, and help us keep our pool equipment in good shape.
Broken Gate Lock Due To Slamming:
The main gate lock is broken and will have to be repaired because people are slamming the gate shut, or allowing it to slam on its own. his leaves our pool vulnerable to people getting in who are not members, and makes us more susceptible to vandalism. PLEASE make sure the the gate is closed carefully, and is not allowed to slam shut!
Umbrella Reminder:
Please remember to lower the table umbrellas after you are done using them. This will help keep them from getting damaged in the event of any storms or excessive winds.
Pool Now Open

Sunday - Thursday: 10am - 10pm
Friday & Saturday: 10am - 11:30pm

A resident from Riverwalk Subdivision has set up a Facebook page for communication among neighborhood residents.
